Annual Reviews expands event capabilities through the addition of Underline Science

San Mateo, CA, USA, 07.15.2026 — Annual Reviews (AR), the nonprofit organization dedicated to synthesizing and integrating knowledge for the progress of science and the benefit of society, today announced the acquisition of Underline Science (Underline), expanding its ability to support scholarly societies and conference organizers worldwide.
The addition of this event platform and expertise builds on AR's decades of service to scholarly communities. In addition to publishing 51 journals across the biomedical, life, physical, and social sciences, AR brings people together through meetings including the Charleston Conference and Charleston Conference Asia, and reaches broader audiences through Knowable Magazine, Katina Magazine, and Knowledge Unlatched. By combining conference capabilities with longstanding engagement across research communities, Annual Reviews can help organizations strengthen engagement with their stakeholders, reach new audiences, and extend the impact of their meetings.
The enhanced services support virtual, hybrid, and in-person events and include an award-winning event application, preservation of conference video materials, ticketing, attendee and speaker management, onsite audiovisual services, and global event coordination. Organizers can draw on these capabilities in ways that reflect their own goals, values, and communities.
Richard Gallagher, President and Editor-in-Chief of Annual Reviews, said: "Publishing review articles is one way of advancing knowledge; fostering the conversations that move ideas forward is another. By adding Underline's event expertise to our experience serving scholarly communities, we can help organizations create events that build relationships and extend the reach and impact of their meetings."
Jernej Masnec, CEO of Underline Science, said: "Underline was founded in 2019 to help scholarly organizations deliver outstanding event experiences and extend their reach beyond the walls of a conference venue. Becoming part of Annual Reviews enables those capabilities to have an even greater impact through an organization with long established ties to scholarly communities. The Underline team and operations will remain in place, ensuring continuity for clients.”
